Mercury 200 20hp 1978 cuts out

I have an old mercury 200 20hp. Thing runs really well except at cruising at 3/4 to 7/8 throttle, it partially dies, starts sputtering. I have to put it in neutral and rev it a few times and shell go again. Sometimes I have to repeat the process. Its somewhat inconstant when this happens. Not sure it its a fuel issue. Other than that it runs great. I pushed my 14 foot aluminum mermaid about 27mph when shes going.

Is the boost venture in place on the carburetor ?-----Checked condition of all the wires ?----Any other trouble shooting done ?-----Perhaps test run with another tank and hose.

Not sure what the boost venture is, but I will pull the carb and clean it. It doesnt seem to be electrical as it wont shut of and clears up with a few good revs. Its a 2.5 gallon plastic tank and a short hose but ill check those as well.
