Mercury 2001, 150 - Saltwater- Carbs.

I have a 2001, Mercury 150 Saltwater and this engine uses a ton of oil, and always has. It does not idle smoothly but runs very well at speed. Is there a break in setting for the oil injector and another setting for after break in? I think it is running too rich. Any ideas on how to check the fuel flow rates, or oil usage.

You would need an OEM manual and yes there is a way to check the oil flow which is described in the manual. Check your throttle linkage to see if the marks are lined up for the oil pump as it is adjustable. All of the older V-6's seem to idle on the rough side.
