I have a new 115 Merc (2020) and looking at the engine I see the Trim Sensor unit installed on the starboard side.

I also have the new 2020 Smartach which monitors the engine - oil and water temp, gph consumption, rpms, etc.

There is a menu option for “trim” on the Smartach but it shows zero “0” as trim so I suspect this was never connected.

I haven’t traced any wiring yet but haven’t found info on how to connect the trim sensor so it registers on the Smartach guage.

Any suggestions before I begin?

Hi. Slightly different, I’m aware. But I have this engine too, but with the smartcraft sc gauges. To show the trim indicating, you need to initially calibrate it. Go into the calibration mode and set it up. Will ask you to move the trim to certain positions then save each of them. Should work then.
Hold in the buttons until the calibration menu comes up. Can do it there.

Thanks for that suggestion. I will give that a try - makes sense logically.

There are very extensive menu options on the Smartach and I recall some dedicated to calibration for a number of things.

Thanks for the tip - will let you know!

My next project is setting up the motor to display on my Lowrance HDS-7 via NMEA 2000!

You’ll need the Mercury gateway for that. Best of luck.
