I have a Mercury "Classic Fifty" 45 hp. Ser# OB204747. My problem is the tilt/trim motor. I removed the motor and opened it up and the brush plate is fried. Im assuming the rest of the motor is cooked as well. This is the square "Eaton" motor and it is no longer available. I can buy a used unit on Ebay but I really dont want to spend that kind of money on something that might die real soon. Does anyone know of a replacement ? What woud be my best route to go on this? Its a sweet little motor and I really to fix it.

any tilt motor should work as long as you get one with same type fluid. ihave one that takes motor oil and one that takes brake fluid. you may have to replace fittings and wire your switch back up.

It has to bolt to my assembly between the motor mounts and has to have the same spline to mate to my pump. My pump is not external.

Might check here, but many are not cheap. But if you want it right....

web page

Or here: The Eaton is 294.00 Here

web page

I would call both of them to make sure of the price and that you would be getting the correct motor. You need an exact replacement!... Don't play with motors off E-bay that you are not sure of. Not to dunk E-bay parts, but some are better to just get the new one and be done with it...
