Mercury 500 1966 where is the rectifier? (not charging)

Working on a 66' Mercury 500 4 cylinder. I can't find the rectifier or wires leading to it anywhere. I have a factory service manual and it dosn't tell me where it's located. Thanks in advance.

Is there a charging system on it , yes / no / not sure ?-----Model and serial # is ?---Any pictures ?----Do you see any wires at all coming from under the flywheel ?----Do you see any windings or evidence of a stator under the flywheel ?------Manual start or electric start ?

the rectifier is the part with the red ans yellow terminals in the pic i uploaded. this is on my 67 Merc 500.

So I figured out I have no charging system whatsoever. No stator or rectifier. So I ordered a stator and rectifier off ebay...hoping I can install that.

When ever I have a motor redone I remove the stator, when they fail they make an awful mess. Just charge the battery.

Do you have magnets inside the flywheel? If not, you’ll need one of those, too.

The flywheel is magnetic. Can I expect to boat a whole day without charging the battery? What type of mess do they cause? I have a 180 minute reserve capacity battery.

Is it just a starting battery or are you running more off the battery? Mine I only use for starting (mine starts well no choke needed) and I recharge about every 3rd outing.

Currently on my 1966 Lone Stat Del Ray 15ft Ski-about Aluminum boat, I have a 1966 Johnson 33HP Electric Start outboard with no Charging System (The motor can run without a battery & has recoil starter as a backup). when i left the boat in the water id charge the battery once a month as a precaution, never had a dead battery or slow cranking. just using a regular Dual Purpose Marine Battery. I have an 600GPH Bildge Pump on a automatic Float Switch with manual Override Switch, Bow & Stern Lights, Garmin Striker 4 Fish Finder, Electric Horn, RGB LED light Strip, & the Johnson's Electric Starter. excluding the Starter the Max Amperage was around 24 Amps if everything was on and running. during a month i used the boat around a dozen times with multiple starts per day and regular running lights, fish finder, & bilge pump usage.
