Just got this motor today and the seller told me it was missing and running on one cylinder from time to time. Its one of the coils thats giving a weak spark and its part no is 339 5288.Does anybody know what other coils i can fit to it as these coils are not available in the United Kingdom(Scotland).Coils for other mercs ie 339 7370 are readily available and look similar. Will these work without damaging the rest of the ignition system.PS just had a quick look on some American sites and they are listed as NLA.Thanks folks

Thanks guys,I know the correct part numbers i need and the links given suggest that they are still available in the USA but its a different story here in Scotland where the dealers here say its no longer stocked.I did talk to one today who would get the part from the USA but it would cost ?92(138 dollars) after postage and taxes. The other coil numbers mentioned i can source for sensible money so anybody know if they will work without causing other problems. Thanks

Personally I wouldn't try to put a different coil in... Many reason why it may not work... (I actually find it difficult to believe that they don't carry it. It's used on 14 different Merc engines, including a couple of high performance models)

If you can wait a few days I would order the coil on line... Most US based companies are happy to ship overseas.... iBoats have the coil listed but 'out of stock', so I would try www.mercruiserparts.com or www.boats.net
