I have a Mercury 60hp big foot. The manual recommends using loctite 271 on the bolts. I am concerned with this adhesive, I may have a problem removing the bolts in the future.

What is your recommendation?

They'll come off again. They just don't want them coming off before you do! I don't like to use the stuff for allen-head or screw-head fasteners but for traditional bolts it's o.k.

I think Mercury is using 271 across the board,as a corrosion solution. For years I've been greasing water pump housing screws to help them come out later. Now they say Loctite them.
DHP
