Mercury Kiekhaefer 60 not pumping water

Replaced impeller
flushed water passages & outlet
When I put compressed air in cylinders I can hear & feel a very small amount of air coming out water port on top of engine.
That engine design does not have cylinder head gasket that seals cylinders from cooling systems.

Any ideas???

Welcome aboard.

You're right, there is no cylinder head gasket because these old Mercs do not have a removable head.

How are you putting compressed air in the cylinders? Through spark plug holes? And what water port is air hissing out off?

And finally, how are you getting water to the motor - Muffs or in a bucket or barrel? When using a bucket/barrel the lower unit must be submerged until the water level is well above the inlets, in fact above the parting line between the lower unit and mid-section so the water pump is beneath the water level.

Is this the 2 cylinder 6 HP model ?----Water must be 6 or 8" above the impeller when running in a test bucket.----Also the plastic washer at the very top of the water tube could be melted.

I am putting compressed air in the spark plug hole.
The engine is running is a barrel full of water, above the impeller & water inlet

When engine is running I can feel air coming out "pee" hole (only ran it for short time)
What Plastic washer???

??---I stated there is a plastic washer at the top of the water tube.----On severe overheat this washer melts and then blocks water flow to the engine.-----Or bring your motor over and I check that for you
