MERCURY KIEKHAEFER Gas Tank Sight Glass

I have a Mercury Kiekhaefer 6 gallon gas tank and the sight glass is so hazy that it is impossible to see thru. Is there any for sale anywhere? I've google searched and came up with nothing. Is there a way to clean the sight glass? I know that just lifting the tank is an easy way to tell how much is left but was wondering if the sight glass can be improved upon.

My Merc tank has some kind of plastic for the sight glass. Tried plastic polishing stuff and gave up. Never was able to find a new sight glass.

There are plastic polishing compounds available to polish out most any type plastic. But it sounds like the real problem is not on the outside but on the inside. And all the polishing in the world will never clean that up unless you can get to the inside to polish out. JMHO!
