Hello,<br /><br />I have a Mercury 6 cylinder inline outboard motor that has a serial number that is either B314865 which would make it a 1988 motor or it is 5314865 which would make it a 1979 motor. This first number or letter is obscured and it cannot be read easily. Is there another way to determine the age of the motor?<br /><br />Thanks in advance,<br /><br />RAR
