Mercury75hp not starting

Hi guys I'm new to the site hope somebody can help I've been given a mercury 75hp 2 stroke 3 cylinder its been standing for 4 years I've put new plugs sprayed in the plug holes fresh fuel fully charged battery and leads but I get nothing on the key only the choke making a clicking noise i tried crossing the solenoid and it did turn over slightly tried it again and the bendix gear was just spinning so replaced that took the solenoid off and starter put them back in now nothing is happening not even the tilt up/dn is getting any power sorry for the long post plus I'm a noob on these engines but learning slowly Screenshot_20210826-232434_Photos.jpg

That wiring is a mess. I would be redoing all of it. Those insulated connectors with the yellow and blue sleeves belong in the trash. But first things first, if you apply power directly to the starter does it turn the engine over? That's the big wire near the bottom of the starter.

Hi not tried direct power to starter yet yes the wiring is terrible the last person left it in a state
