Anyone remove a motor from the boat / best way to get it all out I am gutting my boat to do a complete repurpose no more I/o its a bowrider now but I am making it into a v bottom jon basically why ? why not I alrerady have the boat and I don't have an out drive or money to get 1 plus I wanted a big v bottom jon so instead of selling my boat and buying another boat I will just make mine what I want so motor removal tips anyone ?

Pull the outdrive off...unbolt the motor mounts... undo wiring and plumbing........Then

Back that puppy up under a big-ol oak tree.........find a big stout branch...wrap your strap around the branch, hook up a come-a-long or chain fall and jerk the motor out.

Pull the boat out from under the motor...and procced to your refurbished the V-Bottom jon.

Btw...that gona be a heavy V-Bottom jon boat!

If your going to scrap the boat the engine is coming out of, try a chain saw and open it up. If you will save the boat, big tree as checkmate mentioned or a old swing set, not one of the new ones, they barely hold up an adult.

Make sure you part out that engine, lots of valuable stuff there

oh the Engine is def. up for part out as soon as I find a place to list it the boat is being converted to an outdrive bass boat already cut down the sides there is no outdrive but how do I get the part going through the transom out of there to patch it shut ? thanks for all the help

Once the engine is out you unbolt the inner transom assembly from the gimbal housing and pry (gently) them apart. Section 2 of this manual talks about it: Boatinfo - Mercruiser Service Manual nr. 6 - 1983-1990 - R, MR, Alpha One & Alpha One SS Sterndrives
