Yeah, with the space on the 4-stroke cylinder head pretty much occupied by the valves and sparkplug, there's no real room left for direct injectors. They'd limit the size of the valves and reduce breathing. Only thing you have on a 2-stroke head is a sparkplug. Plenty of room for direct injectors.<br /><br />Future Project X motors will have fewer cylinders. The current motors are in the 200 to 250Hp range (I've heard they can twist considerably more than that out of them. I'm sure durability suffers, though). 4-cylinders will be between 125 and 175Hp. After that, maybe triples between 75 and 115Hp? Lower Hp's will probably be conventional, though. It sounds like Merc is aiming at 4-strokes and scrapping 2-strokes as the gap between the small and large 4-strokes fills-out. I wonder how Ol' Carl would feel about that?
