mid unit/lower unit seem leak

I just installed a '73 65hp johnson on by boat. The top runs smooth and the bottom is pretty good too. While flushing it out I notice a pin (large pin) hole leak comming from the starboard side seem Just over a side bolt where the lower unit connects to the mid section. There is some corrosion along the seem but does not look drastic.
Is the water comming out of there actually flowing through anyplace where it shouldn't be flowing? I believe my water pump and electrics are toward the front of the shaft and the leak would be behind the shaft. Could it cause a problem? And if so can I take off the lower unit, sand it (or fill it) and put it back on?

That is the exhaust housing. It is full of water, while running, to keep the exhaust cool and quiet.

The hole you're referring to is probably a housing drain to prevent freezing.

That seam is not watertight.

I'm glad to find out the seam isn't watertight, but the water shoots out from the seam itself (not a housing drain) from a little pinhole on some corrosion on the seam. Is that something I should be concerned about?
