Look at the instructions he has on the website; it's all there; some models have the cable on the upper end of the bell crank , some have it on the lower end, use the one that matches what you have . The tools make the adjustment more precise and faster. So you still follow the adjustment procedure but it's different if you were following an older shop manual that was printed before the special tools were released.

The Jig just holds the drive end of the cable in N so you can adjust the barrel end to fit.

There isn't one. You just measure it. You also measure it with the drive split in half. Has the drive been split?

no I did it last year but I cant find a ruler that does 7 13/64..... so what I did was move the fork or w.e its called to 7 inch then looked up google what 13/64 was which is 5.1594 mm.. so used my dial caliper set it to 5.1594 mm then marked it on top of the 7 on a ruler and turned the fork till the top of the fork meets the mark on the ruler..... lol sorry does that sound right or all wrong???

Sounds fine.

You measured from the casting right? Not the shift rod cover?

I got all three OMC tools from Crowley Marine but if you are careful you can measure the shift rod height with regular tools.
That has to be right because it affects the actual shift into gear movement. That, the bracket that holds the bell crank at 90*, and the tool that sets the shift cable length on the engine end are critical. Don't forget that adjusting the cable from the remote control to the bell crank is part of the whole job. You need a free moving cable, bell crank and equal engagement in fwd and rev.
This is why in the factory shop manuals they recommend that you check the final adjustment by having an assistant shift the boat into and out of gear while you (engine OFF) turn the prop. You will be able to feel if it engages equally in fwd and rev. If it engages fully in one and not the other it will grind in the gear that it's not going into fully or jump out of gear under load.

Lastly, the ESA system must stumble the engine ( you will not feel this out of the water, only in the water) when shifting from in gear to neutral. Also it helps to have the engine in good enough tune to run smoothly at 600 rpm. Low idles work better with dog clutch shifting due to their abrupt engagement and the need to stumble (lower) the idle to allow the dog clutch to releas so the drive will shift to neutral.
