This is a Reply to one of his questions
Q: HI, I see the starter is not working, do you feel the engine is OK? Is the drive OK? Thanks, RayA: I have not heard the engine run but ,the oil is clean and moisture free, the exhaust look in good condition as does the leg.the hour meter reads 703.5hrs

I think if you can't tell the difference between an inboard and an outboard, you have no business buying a boat.

"Needs a starter" is one of the oldest scams in the used car trade.

I think if you can't tell when an item description is copy and pasted to a forum to get an opinion. Not only should you not give your opinion but you should also not own a computer/ have been able to graduate High School.

And by the way "The full injector is dirty" is the oldest Gramps.

that was dam disrespectful  J Martin was just letting you know that you could be getting scammed. if the guy selling the boat won't change the starter (if thats really the problem) then walk away. you won't be able to hear it run or even check the compression if you can't spin it over

2 posts and your starting off that way???

He was pointing out that you posted a question about an I/O in an outboard motor forum. They are not the same. There is a specific I/O forum where you should have posted your question.

Having said that, I personally would assume the motor is junk and will have to be totally replaced unless I actually see and hear it run. If it really only needs a starter then why wouldn't the owner put one on so he could get more money for the boat???

BTW, I'm pretty sure cars have had starters a lot longer than they have had fuel injectors. Are you old enough to have owned a car with a carburetor.

hahahahahahhah....these posts are entertaining.

If your really interested in the boat, you may want to tell him you would like to do a prebuy inspection and have him or you tow it down to a marina and have them look at it. It may cost a n hr or two but better then being hosed for the whole boat.

No one wants to be disrespected or mouthed off to.What seems to be missing on here is the knowledge that it goes both ways.Ive read TONS of posts on iboats and the "master"people and even moderators tend to mouth when not necessary.I actually got kicked off iboats for 2wks. for replying to two mouthy replies i got from a simple question in which NEITHER even tried to attempt to answer the question. And one was a moderator.Im not trying to cause trouble.Just saying that we can all dish it out but can we take it?All questions on here are from people wanting an answer. They may be newbies, they may have posted in the wrong area,etc.,etc.Why dont we just point them in the right direction, not rag on them for a misused term or wrong forum mistake,or their typing, etc.Just saying.
