milage on Chrysler 105

first hello all ....new to the boating seen .......have a old 105 .anyone have a idea what kinda milage this thing gets .....was told 2 miles per gallon , thats godda be wrong ..lol atleast I hope so .thanx for your time and must add alot of help on here for Chryslers

Don't know what the exact specs are, but it's not like the 20+ MPG that you will see on cars. You have a constant drag on your boat with it cutting through the water, thus a boat won't be nearly as efficient as a car or truck because they are only up against the air and road. When you start going faster, you get less fuel efficient with cars, in part because of wind resistance and other parts fuel amount going to the engine, engine speed and such. With a boat, to get the higher speeds you're going to be at wide open throttle (WOT). When at WOT and cutting through water, you're not going to get a lot of miles like on a car.<br /><br />Just my guess.

As a wild guess (there are too many variables) you could probably expect to use 6 gallons per hour at any planing speed.<br /><br />You can do the miles calculation from there. <br /><br />However, you will be astonished at how much it uses.

Chryslers are pigs and are not designed for high gas mileage. I get almost 4 miles per gallon on my 45 HP. If you are lucky you will get about 2 per gallon on yours.

with your 45 hp was that at WOT or is that the average 4 per Gal.

Pretty much any high speed setting. I dont run mine much at WOT. I keep it a notch below that mark.

Pat F...like DJ says there are way too many variables...alot depends on the boat and conditions...but on a waterlogged boat in 3' seas you be lucky to get 2 mpg. Match that motor up with an easy planing 16'-17' fishing boat, the correct prop, and running at the optimal rpms on a glassy lake...easily double that mileage, maybe more...
