My used Lund came with a very nice matching- snap on boat cover. The inside of the cover is white & has gross mold & mildew stains.. How can I remindy this ? Certainly my prior owner wasnt the first one to put a cover away wet !

Re: Mildew stains

I am thinking washing it in the driveway with a non chlorine bleach.. Not sure oif thats a good idea as the cover is green on the outside & I really dont want to screw that up. Perhaps I will call someone that makes boat covers & see what they do ....

I took a bar of IVORY soap. Shredded it with a cheese grater. Melted it in HOT water. Put my cover on a piece of plywood, laid on a pair of saw horses, scrubbed it with a soft bristle brush. It cleaned up the cover, and took away what "I" thought were mold spots.

Try spray nine. It works good. will it fit in your washer? I've done that with my car cover.

I had the same problem and searched (and searched, and searched......) the solution everyone (including cover manufactures, yea even for colored covers) was to soak it in a (fairly mild) bleach water solution and the rinse it well.

You may need to reapply some sort of waterproofing after this. They also stated NOT to machine wash it. The way I wound up doing it was filling my washing machine up with bleach water, drop the cover in and let it soak. After a while take it out to the drive way and hose it off.

Here is sunbrella's take on the subject:

Thanks for the replies... Not sure what I will do yet... If I find a good solution I will post it... If I destroy my cover with the pressure washer.. I probably wont say a word...

Re: Mildew stains

The manufacturer of the vinyl in my boat recommends for mildew stains a mixture of one tablespoon of ammonia, 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide, and 3/4 cup of water. Rinse several times with clear water.

Do not know if this works on canvas or other materials...like all instructions say...try product in an inconspicuous spot to test for compatibility...in other words, try at own risk.
