Milloman...I am appalled. I am outraged. I cannot believe these good friends on the forum would make light of one of their own who was in a tight fix. A friend respected by one and all, let down in his time of need. A friend cast off into the Sea Of Ribald when he needed a line of hope. Millo, I for one am glad that you have averted a situation all men have shunned since the beginning of marriage. That of an outraged wife! And remember Millo, next time, buy the carpet FIRST dummy. Don't ya' know yer on borrowed time here! Ya' got away with once, next time ya' might not be so darn lucky!!! :D :D

I agree OBJ I for 1 thank the earth she walks on. I think she was mad not because more fishing stuff, but I broke the rule of $200 in other words neither party spends more then 200 without consulting the other and I think shes mad at that. I had to remind her that sh e spend thousands on my new motor over Christmas without consulting me what a look I got for that

let me know when you have a garage sale and
I'll drive up ;) the secret is to spread the $800
over a couple weeks/months so it don't seem like
so much....

I guess the lure donation is out of question now. But since you had the support of all your fishn buds and since you have so many tackle boxes, how about donating one for a door prize at our get together in Oct........just a thought.........

Just for adding the words, "no deceit", just as in a court case, it changes everything.
If I were to have done this, I would would tell her, and defend my purchases with "I made it, I blow it....but only when I have to" statement.
It's the truth. If she goes for the kitchen knife, I bolt, screaming "TRUTH!!! YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!". (she loves it when I quote Jack). :D

milo- no cure for what you did, but he's a suggestion for the future that my dad has been doing for years-

get a cabella's visa. let your wife use it all year long for her/your purchases. each purchase earns you cabella bucks. my dad loves counting his bucks. once a year, usually in may, my dad sits down with the catalog and goes crazy. most of his purchases are free from his earned cabella bucks.

good luck-

Re: miloman is dead meat

I can remember years ago my wife mentioning my need to by fishing stuff every time I went into Walmart. I told her I'll stop when I have all the compartments filled in my tackle box.

I'm filling the compartments on my seventh box now.

This subject came up again last weekend when I laid another broken back Rapala on the check out counter. On our trip out in the parking lot I said all my tackle was a great investment. She laughed in disbelief. I told her I'd prove it to her when we got home.
As soon as we got home I typed in "Fishing Tackle" on ebay's auction site. I showed her the prices they get for full tackle boxes. I reminded her that as soon as I kicked the bucket, she could list all the stuff on ebay and make a small fortune. I actually convinced her that it was a legitamate investment, therefore clearing the way for the purchase of several more boxes and the tackle to fill those empty compartments.

So, who needs a 401K when you have fishing tackle? ;)

Miloman, talk to the wife and fess up, explain how you weren't thinking clear and screwed up, sound real sincere and offer to return the stuff when it arrives, she might buy it and you might get to keep both the goods and the wife, if you hafta choose, be careful,,,,, :D :D :D

She really didnt care to much when I explained the conversion, she showed me a slip of paper that she had done the day earlier and I was out 4 bucks She shook her head and said well better then you being a drinker beater etc... I said you see honey bunny and seems its all better know. .... Until the 2 boxes get here and Im gone for a day sorting

I've found that the direct approach is best. Just make sure you're out of reach! :D
