Rebuilt from ground up cuz a broken roller bearing on crank shaft. Finished it and ran great! Then sheared a flywheel key. I cleaned it up and put a new one in. now it won't even start. Cam is in line and its all correct. bought a timing light and its like 140 degrees off. Can only get a backfire out of it... Got fuel, spark, wtf!?

Obviously, the cam or flywheel is NOT correctly set. Did you use the correct long key? Did you torque the flywheel nut to 95 foot pounds? Grunt tight is not tight enough. It can break a new key the first time it fires.--use a torque wrench. Are the mating surfaces of the flywheel hub and crankshaft taper clean and true? Do they have at least 85% to 90% contact? Is the cam set on the crankshaft with the correct side up?

every thing seems right, I'm going by the repair book. Cam looks like its rightside up, as the book shows, ill flip it, only thing I havent tryed. Could the top of the crank shaft spin, twist, cuz I'm measuring top dead center, ahhhhhhh. Ill flip the cam, if thats not it, I'm taking it in to a shop.

Make sure you're looking at the right set of timing marks. TDC and timing marks could be that far apart.

Timing for your motor should be set at 30? btdc. Checked only at cranking rpms. Timing needs to be checked on both cylinders.
