I have a 21' Dixie cuddy cabin. It came with a non functional 140 looper mounted on a bracket. I can pick up a 115 fairly cheap. Will this be enough HP for now? I don't wanna kill a good motor by over working it. I don't need to go fast.....I just need to go fishing!

That will be plenty of power! Ive seen bigger boats with smaller motors than that. You may have to swap propellors though.

In the brochures and sales literature I have seen my 21 foot cuddy powered by a 90 even though it is rated for up to 180. I have seen a couple of large cuddy cabin hulls powered by 115 engines. I originally had a 125 powering my Manatee but recently changed to a 150 and probably will put on a 175 in the future. Too much horsepower is never enough!

If you are only intending to use the 115 for a relatively short period of time, it will probably serve you well. But, I would not be surprised if in the future you decide to go larger. It is nice and also reassuring to have more horsepower than you need or intend to use.
