Minn Kota 55AT All Terrain troll motor question

I hope I can get help on where to locate a 3 prong receptacle for this motor. My ProCraft 19' boat had previous owner installed a home electrical 3 prong instead of a marine receptacle for his trolling motor(which he kept) I didn't think anything about the receptacle except I knew it had been replaced and new wiring run to the batteries. Until I put this trolling motor on last weekend I assumed it was a standard 3 prong circular receptacle...... I've been to Wally World and they actually have what I need except it has the motor side plugand the boat side receptacle as a set. Looked on Minnkota website and don't see where they have a parts area, or at least not when I did a search. Been to West Marine, Boater's World, same as Wally World, 'cept more expensive. Looked online on a couple of "trolling motor wholesale repair parts" sites and I 'm still not finding just the receptacle by itself. Am I left with going for the set at $29 At Wally World anyway? And can someone point out a description or a diagram where I can see a wiring layout coming to the plug from the 2 batteries in 24v hookup so I can get the correct 12v-24v combination out of the motor control. Just don't want to fry the motor.

I am looking at the 65at which is a 24 volt and had minn kota send me the instructions to install. How do they get 24v from one battery? There hookup instructions in the operations manual are terrible! If you get that answere would you send to me. KevinSeibert@sbcglobal.net Thanks

The 55AT is a 12V motor and you don't need a three prong plug as only two wires are involved (+12V and ground). Any store (including Wally World) have the two prong motor end and receptacle as a set or separate pieces and you won't need to spend $29. You can also get those pieces right here on iBoats, or at any discount, farm, or department store that sells boating and fishing supplies.

Bajabassboat -- you can't get 24 volts from a 12 volts battery. That's why if you have a 24 volt motor you need two 12V batteries wired in series.

OK, thanks guys ---- I see now why I need this forum....I bought a used trolling motor, and was under the impression it was a 24 volt system. So I just need to hook my batteries in parallel for this motor, with a simple 12 volt plug set up. Well, I was hoping for a bit more thrust when I got it, more along 80# plus for my boat, but I got a good deal on this one, so I'll see if it'll pull me around ok in a wind, and re-think continued use if its powerful enuf. At least I found out its 12v before I fried it with 24v hookup.

Most trolling motors specify the thrust right in the type number. 55AT = 55 pounds of thrust and the AT stands for "All Terrain" which is the style of mount. If the motor were a 55PD it would be a 55 pound thrust "Power Drive". MotorGuide uses a similar idenfication scheme.

yep, i knew it wasn't a higher thrust, was just wishing I could find one(cheeper) with more thrust......but lacked the $$ for one at this time. but hooking it up was the lacking of how to do that I was needing most. Thanks again.
