I ordered a Minn Kota Powerdrive V2 70 lb. / 24 volt trolling motor today with a wireless Co-Pilot System. Below are the links to the units.

The salewoman didn't know if I would need a new adapter for the trolling motor. Right now I have a round 3 prong socket on my boat. Do I need another one, or will the one I have work?

I believe the trolling motor does not come with a plug. You need one to match the receptacle in your boat. Since you will only be using two terminals in the three terminal receptacle, you still need the three terminal plug for the troller but you will only use the matching two pins.

I have the plug off of my other motor. So, I just re-use that one? It was a 12/24 Evinrude.

Re: Minn Kota power plug question

It worked for 24V on your other motor it will work for 24v on the new one. All the plug does is pass current. It doesn't matter whether it's 12 or 24V. The wires on your new motor are red and black (+24V and ground respectively). Your plug has red, orange, and black wires -- does it not? You use the red and black wires and tape off the orange wire. Make sure the receptacle has 24V on the red terminal and ground on the black and you are good to go.

Have question on the female plug trying to install. My plug has #s 1 2 and 3
This will be used for both 12 and 24 application.

I believe #1 is Red
#2 is Org
#3 is Black

is this the correct wiring?

Re: Minn Kota power plug question

A more important way to put that is Red = 24V, Orange = 12V and Black = Ground. However those terminals are marked is not important. Of equal importance is that the cables from the batteries get to the proper terminal on the receptacle.
