Minn Kota Running Backwards ...

All,<br /><br />I have a Minn Kota Vector 55, and recently took the motor assembly apart for cleaning (the hydrilla is really bad where I fish!). When everything was put back together, my 5 speeds of forward are now reverse, and reverse is now forward. Does anyone know how to fix this?<br /><br />Thanks for your help!

dj - does the motor have a permanent magnet for the field? If so, you may have installed the magnet in reverse.

Welcome to i-boats!<br />Chris is right, you have something backwards! Take it back apart and double check all the wiring and everything else is put back together correctly.

dj_is:<br /><br />You know its something you did and nothing you do besides taking it apart is going to fix it and nothing we say is going to fix it either. Wishfull thinking though.<br /><br />However, DC motors will run with reverse polarity so you could just hook the battery up backwards if you dont want to take it apart agin.

happened to me one day when I hooked the battery up bassackwards - I'd check that first.

You pulled the leads off of the speedswitch. You have reversed the 2 battery leads on the switch posts. All the switch posts are clearly marked. Switch the battery leads on the switch.
