I don't think we want the government raising our children. Even for a short while. But, I agree that the government should not be encouraging people to have more children unless you can care for them. And, that includes financially.

Doesn't have to be the government, they could simply fund private "revolving door" orphanages for parents who can no longer afford to care for their kids to drop them off, and pick them back up at a later date when they can afford to again... with open visitation in the middle. That way you can cut the welfare benefits of having more children without any collateral damage to the children. To quote an ill-timed speech... "mission accomplished."

I feel that any birth should have positive DNA proof of who the father is before any gov assistance is allowed. If No proof of who the daddy is, the child is then put up for adoption prior to leaving the hospital. Any child brought into this world should have the right to know who their parents are. Just because a woman/man liked having whoopee without protection should not cost the taxpayer one single cent IMHO.........SS

What if the mother can afford to raise the child on her own, without positive DNA proof? Would you still put the kid up for adoption? What if the father died before the birth of their kid in some way which inhibited DNA testing?

I can't say that I'm on board with forcing them to give up a child, but I agree that they shouldn't get any "public assistance."

Last update on the news was the mother got out on bail (1000 bucks)
And child services let her keep the child! They did say they would give her parenting advice..
Some people just should NOT be allowed to re-produce!!
The mother stated the child was throwing a temper tantrum in the car and she was trying to calm her down by spraying her!
Thats like me hitting the mother with a baseball bat and saying i'm just trying to knock some sense in her...
