Would that be a 94GG9007A not the 94GG90074 you have if so it look like a 1948-49 3hp Sea King.

I also have a 94gg9007a, s/n 313633, but it says sea-bee on the cover/tank and montgomery ward on the plate, which on is right I thought montgomery wars were sea kings not sea bees, any help????

They were both made by Gale which was part of OMC, Johnson/Evinrude, the motors would be distributed by various department stores like Montgomery wards. If yours has the MW plate on the transom clamp it was originally a MW but some one obviously changed the tank at some point with one from a SeaBee, its like I have a SeaBee tank for my 5hp Buccaneer as the original tank is all beaten up, I just need to repaint it.

Sea King, Sea Bee, Buccaneer...same motors, different colors and clothes. Good stout runners.

Re: montgomery ward 3.0 hp

thanks for the info, other then a bees nest in the tank and a lot of gunk in the float bowl, it was not in bad shape, good spark, good compression and i think it should run good, new to this site, but it seems like a good place to go for someone with their first boat.

If it is soft and squishy it might be alright, the problem is it being fill of grease.

Kieth-uk,
tile guy her also looking for info on my newly perchased Sea King. advertised as a 5 hp with low hours. The compresion feals good but no spark. I bought a new plug and no spark. Must be the coil but havent got in to it yet. Looking for leeds on info like service manual and oil ratios and parts suppliers. Believe it to be a 70's motor from seller but it looks newer to me. Its in very good shape and has desines of what seam to be later than 70's. Plate on mount reads CLINTON ENGINE CORP. Model # K500 2106 A Type # 27405 R. Can you help or refere me to some one.

Thank You

My generic Intertec manual sez it was produced from '72 thru '76. It's a 7.75 CID engine and recommended fuel/oil mix is 48/1 of 'outboard motor oil'---presumably a TCW oil for water-cooled engines. Being a conservative in all aspects I'd err on the side of safety at no less oil than 32/1.

Any of the generic outboard manuals such as Intertec, Seloc or Clymers should be readily available for purchase or thru the national inter-library loan system.
Get one!

Be aware that while the 'top end' is air-cooled the lower bearing and seal is buried INSIDE the exhaust manifold and are water-cooled---whether by pump or ram tube. Research my other posts for details.
