Friends,

Does anyone have a photo of the original interior of the SEA KING, Series 9012, 14ft aluminum, that will let me see the original interior layout and upholstery design?

SEA KING boats of the 1950s-early 1960s had a "stick one" label that gave the year model and hull serial number. The runabout that I have found is missing the label, so I don't know:
1. The year of manufacture,
2. Which company made the "lapstrake" hull
or
3. What the boat looked like when new.

Can anyone help?

THANKS, satx

That's gettin' a little too specific I fear. Do you have any pics of what you have? Have you checked Fiberglassics?

According to Sea King - Classic Boat Library,

Sea King boats, trailers, and outboards were sold by Montgomery Wards but were built by a variety of manufacturers such as Speed Queen, Super Craft, Fort Dodge, and Span America. The line of outboards motors were built by Gale (a division of OMC) and later on by West Bend/Chrysler.

Some brochures on that page that might help.

ezmobee,

YEP, Fiberglassics.com's "on-line library" was the first place that I looked.

Once I have the boat/trailer/motor in my custody (I put a deposit down on the rig & can get the boat, as soon as the probate court "signs off on" the estate settlement.- probably in 2 weeks or so.), I'll try to post some photos.
(The hull looks OK but the seats/interior trim are GONE. - the neice/executrix of the PO says that he threw them away several months before his death.)

I was hoping that the series number might give the date of manufacture & by whom built (I'm GUESSING that the hull is a STARCRAFT product.), as the model number of most OB motors does.
AND/OR
That somebody might have photos of the interior of SEA KING runabouts of the late 50s and early 60s.
(It's hard to restore something, without a good idea as to what it originally looked like.)

THANKS for responding, satx

Almost All of the 60's runabouts had 3 Seating Choices. Back to Back, Split Bench up front only or Split Bench Up front and Full Bench in Back. I Put 2 Swivel captain type chairs up front and fabricated a Bench seat in back for mine.

Re: Montogomery Ward SEA KING Series 9012????

To All,

FYI, I have this AM heard from The OK State Tax Office, which has a copy of the ORIGINAL sales document from Montgomery Ward to the first owner in their tax files.
The Series 9012, 15 foot, Sea King UTILITY/RUNABOUT was made in 1961 & cost 649.oo retail.- According to the MW sales document it was called a: SEA KNIGHT 15.
(Evidently each "series number" was used for one year each.)

THANKS to everyone who responded to my question.

yours, satx
