There are distinct differences between custom and semi custom covers -- the most important of which is fit. A semi custom cover simply does not fit like a custom cover so more support is generally required to prevent pooling of water. Of course material and build quality enter the picture as well so remember that you generally get what you pay for. If I were spending a fair bit of money on a cover it would be a custom fit made by a local canvas shop to fit your specific boat.
