Talked to Bob at Marine Kinetics out of NY. Bob tells me he can pull 600HP and 600 FT LB torque out of my 502 using aluminum heads, cam, full roller rockers and the Holley EFI throttle body. Says it will run on 87 octane but I should use 89. Also indicates that even if I did start to get a lean condition the Holley system would adjust to keep it work right. Says once I pull the engine out and find out what the machine shop tells us what the current status of the block, crank and such, he can advise and put together a package. Might need to increase the rise length of my elbows for possible reversion. Don't mind the 600 ponies but 500 to 525 would be fine. Will look more into it once I get the engine out.
Called Merc and Formula and no one can tell me what drive ratio I should go with. If I use 2.00 then I will probably need to pitch the prop up to 28 to 30 degrees. If I go with 1.81 then I might be able to use my current 24 props. Have 4 sets of props now, 22, 22 cupped, 24 and 26 degrees. I'm leaning more to the 1.81 so I have a chance of playing around with my current props. If I stay with the 2.00 then I will be putting more money out. Bob says I should go with the B1, but the B1 will not give me the same control in docking the B3 does
