If you are going to change the drive you could use a regular Bravo 1. It is good for 600hp and 100mph. I hate the VST in my system and would love to remove it.

I agree as to the numbers. In review the B1 is listed as can handle more HP then the B3, but the B3 is also listed as up to 525HP on gas engines. Go figure why the numbers just don't seem to add up. Many have put IMCO lowers on the drive to boost up the power. I don't see my self getting up more then 525HP so I think it's a non-issue. Never know, found a guy talking about a 600HP 540 (stroked 502) and had my attention on OSO today.

Just got to quit drooling about this

I see, I misinterpreted when you wrote Holley 900 as a carb and not the tbi. Different animal and sure, I'd love that on my own boat.

Do your research on the fast system.
Some people have had a pretty hard time with it.
It seems to either work great, or people give up on it and go another route.

Thanks I'm leaning more toward Holley and will look into FAST a bit more.

I can see it now, I would be happy for a short time, but Momma wouldn't with the engine sticking up through the deck, then I wouldn't be happy :(

lol, if your admiral is like mine, you will not be able to talk her into going fast for any reason.

Ayuh,.... I taught Mine to Captain the helm this season,....

I can't get 'er to run at much under 4 grand now,....

'n the only time I get to drive the boat, is when things get "Tight",... fuel docks, etc.....

Same here. She likes to hammer down. I need to make her pay the fuel bill.

Mine likes to go herself but she also likes the silent choice opened up.

Talked to Bob at Marine Kinetics out of NY. Bob tells me he can pull 600HP and 600 FT LB torque out of my 502 using aluminum heads, cam, full roller rockers and the Holley EFI throttle body. Says it will run on 87 octane but I should use 89. Also indicates that even if I did start to get a lean condition the Holley system would adjust to keep it work right. Says once I pull the engine out and find out what the machine shop tells us what the current status of the block, crank and such, he can advise and put together a package. Might need to increase the rise length of my elbows for possible reversion. Don't mind the 600 ponies but 500 to 525 would be fine. Will look more into it once I get the engine out.

Called Merc and Formula and no one can tell me what drive ratio I should go with. If I use 2.00 then I will probably need to pitch the prop up to 28 to 30 degrees. If I go with 1.81 then I might be able to use my current 24 props. Have 4 sets of props now, 22, 22 cupped, 24 and 26 degrees. I'm leaning more to the 1.81 so I have a chance of playing around with my current props. If I stay with the 2.00 then I will be putting more money out. Bob says I should go with the B1, but the B1 will not give me the same control in docking the B3 does
