Re: Motivation

Did I mention these items...
lower rollers on trailer A, reinforce trailer B, Scrap aluminum boat leaning gainst tree in yard, plant trees, powerwash deck, fix speed sensor on truck, fix air dam on car, upgrade outside lighting, cut & install A/C trim for mom, go over dad's boat (hasn't used all season), clean chimney, fix charging system on 35hp Merc, put lower unit back on Merc 50hp, install bimini on McKee raft,
clean windows, get propane company to get their tanks, put runabout together for best friend, (bug) spray house, fix roof leak in BR2 closet, replace duct for HVAC, install (backup) baseboard heater in BR1, replace intake gasket on Searay, ongoing 402 Merc project, get rid of 4 tires laying around (anybody?), put felt under legs of coffee table...

Atleast by the end of this thread ,I'll have a complete list!

I do admit, I don't really get too much done in boating season.

Now your talkin! Thats sorta what my list looks like! (my first page anyway LOL). When I start to feel like its getting too big I knock off a few of the simple things that require minimal effort and time, makes me feel like Im making some kind of headway.

Re: Motivation

Tell Me About It! The older, & heavier (comes with age) I get, the less motivation, durabilty, energy, & stength I have,,, being retired and on the plus side of 60, with medical issues, I'm usually stiff, or in some kinda pain, (24-7) even the simple things become quite a chore, and my kids are all on their own, so I have no help. I probably have a todo list to rival yours mthieme, and my greatest fear is getting the important items done before winter rears it's ugly head. It's tough to stay focused during boating season, when you can catch a good day, and a few hours on the water, that matters more.

Re: Motivation

Well

At 52 years old and after fixing my way through three houses to get the current one in good shape over the last 11 years

And i am also a plant engineer constantly fixing things 10 hours a day

ENOUGH WITH THE PROJECTS :D

I will be building a deck on the front of the house in a few weeks when the sailboat is hauled

And i have to say i am looking forward to fixing up all the small things the sailboat needs as i did not want to do to much on it until it had a season in the water

Re: Motivation

I may in trouble with my marriage soon. I let projects go so long that the supposed need for them dissapears or is forgotten. Ya see, I didn't NEED to do that after all!! I'm not lazy, I just don't feel like clocking in when I get home from work. That "STUPID BOAT" as she refers to it when I want to go mess with it is different. I like spending countless hours tiddling with things that may or may not be important. I just explain that maintence costs far less than repair and that usually gets me my way. "If I don't keep it in tip top running shape, what's the point of having it?" That's a dangerous line, I know, but she hasn't found her way to the other side of it yet so guess she must like the boat too. She still thinks that I spend too much time on this "STUPID" forum, but I've learned to call her into the office everytime I read a funny post and that usually makes her laugh and not feel so ignored. Yeah, I'm selfish with my time. I already know this. It's just that I feel I can schedule my time and resources more pleasing and more practically than someone else.
