Motor/bottom end seized?

Hi. Was hoping to get some answers concerning my boat motor. I tried last summer to get the motor running properly. Turned over and would fire (had the ear muffs on the bottom end and a hose connected), but had carb issues. I recently moved about 900 miles away and supported the motor with a transom saver? before heading out. I have just now decided to retry the carb issue and after reassembly tried to turn it over. Nothing. Pulled the starter:confused: off and all the plugs (straight 6) and tried again with a rope on the fly wheel. Nothing. I had the gear shift in neutral before moving, so that 'shouldn't' have been the issue. The prop may have been turning during transport. If this scurvy dog has turned over in the past after sitting for a couple years, what could the issue be? I'm fearing the worst.....

Check gear oil and see if full of water or better drop lower unit and retry....

Re: Motor/bottom end seized?

I had the same issue with my OB. I never tried to turn it over but it wouldn't have anyway because the lower foot was a total rusted up mess and frozen up from the rust. I purchased this boat/motor/trailer and took it home and started working on it. The PO hit something and creaked the lower foot and all the oil was long since gone and rust replaced it. So once I removed the foot, it did turn over. But that too was a mistake because the lower main bearing was toast and broken with only a few ball bearings remaining in the main assembly. After much work and lots of parts, it lives again...

thanks for the responses. Guess that's my next move, drop the bottom half and see if that produces any action on the top end. Disappointing since the unit turned over just fine last summer.....ahhh boating....
