A friend of mine just purchased a boat with a 1981 merc 60hp. Ran it for a few hours with no problems but when we went to load it on trailer it would get about half way up and the motor stalled out several times. I checked for low gas in tank but it had plenty. Thought it was too much of incline for motor (shoot in the dark) so i trimed it up to level it but same result. finally had to run at trailer with speed to get it on. Any ideas?

back the trailer in farther.
Or winch it on the trailer.
Some trailers just aren't set up to do the power loading thing.

Yeah, like Roscoe said, back it in further. Might have something to do with exhaust back pressure if you have to load it when the trailer is too far out of the water. Means the lower unit is out of the water farther, too. Not enough back pressure to run correctly. Just a thought!
