I bought the boat last year and it came with a 1989 25hp Mercury. I bought it last year and took it out about 5 times. The first few time it ran perfect, but the last time I took it out is started to give me problems. After launching it I couldnt get it to start. I changed the plugs and made sure the gas connections were properly connected. After a few minutes of messing about with it, it finally started up. I noticed also that the throttle adjustment at the motor had vibrated which changed the setting, so I thought that was what was causing it to start hard. I got out to my fishing spot fine, but when I got ready to return home it decided it didnt want to start again. I messed around with it again and it finally started again. I took it home and parked it for the winter. This spring I decided to do some maintenance on it to keep from being stranded. One of the spark plugs had been cross threaded prior to me owning it, so I removed the head that it repaired and installed it with a new head gasket. I replaced the gas can, gas link, and rebuilt the carburetor. I set the idle adjustment to 1-1/2 turns out and started her up. It took a few cranks to pull the fuel through the freshly rebuilt carb, but after a few cranks it fired up and idled rough. I adjusted the throttle adjustment, which helped it idle better, but when I rolled on the gas it hesitated and stalled. I started it back up and found the same problem after applying the gas it stalls. I removed the plugs Verified that I was getting spark on both, which I was. They didnt appear to be wet, so I reinstalled them and tried it again. Same problem it starts, but stalls when gas is applied. Any suggestions as to what I should look at? I thught about taking the carb apart again, but when i did the rebuild on it the first time it seemed to be in really good shape.

Thanks,

Vox
