motor filling with water...weird

I have a '94 Suzuki dt100 that has a habit filling with water! After running 5-10 min, if you take off the cowl, there is water almost to the brim. I tried running it with the cowl off, and....NO WATER!! For real!! I only ran it for about 2min without the cowl, but I hung over the end of the motor looking for a drop of watter filling or coming in and there was nothing? I am thinking that I did not run it at full throttle long enough but we could not understand why not even a drop/squirt/leak was seen. Any ideas?? Is it possible that having the cowl off makes a difference? Here are some details to confuse the issue or help:

1) Engine runs perfect...starts on first turn most times.

2) I get the feeling that it only happens with high rpm...

3) Found a failed O-ring on a water temp sensor that i actually saw leaking...replaced it but motor still filling up.

4) I am new to outboards so be patient...hehe.

THanks...

There should be drains in the lower cowling to keep that from filling up, but there should not have water leaking into there normaly.
make sure they are not plugged and then run it without the cowling or cover on until you see where the water is coming from.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering...is there a likely place or a leak from the water cooling system? I am as certain as i can be that there is no water leaking from the powerhead...i have a decent view. Is there somewhere lower down that is likely to fail/leak? Thanks again.

Only thing I have personaly seen was a hose leak from the tell tail hose, but there is water behind all the plates and hoses. run it and see where it is leaking

I'll bet the cowl is doing something to the tell tale hose; it has a crack or pin hole.
