Hey guys I found a nice motor guide for sale it's a FW-FB71. It's 71#thrust but the guy says that it only has a 40" shaft. That seems way to small for this motor are they all adjustable?? He said he called a local dealer who told him it is adjustable but he tried and couldn't figure it out. I don't want to loose on a good deal but I also don't want to drive a hr to find that 40" is all I will get. Any advise or experience with these please.

It looks like this model came in 45 / 50 shaft lengths. Not sure if he is measuring correctly. If it is such a great deal, you should be able to to a longer factory shaft on it. I did it on my wireless version. Good Luck

Re: Motor guide shaft adjustment

Ya my research shows the same but he sent me a pic with a tape measurer from the very bottom of the shaft right to the top underneath the motor head which was 40". That's what is so confusing about it. How much would a new shaft cost??

Re: Motor guide shaft adjustment

It turns out it is considered a 45" shaft because motor guide measures it prior to assembly which would include the ends that go into the motor head and lower unit. Therefore 45" really only gives you 40" of usable shaft.
