Just bought this 28 ft. bayliner, port side motor just quit. Distributor gear broke inside the motor had someone pull the motor get the crap out of the oil pan. New distributor and coil, fluids carb rebuilt new altenator zinks painted. Got it back in the water took it out about 1 hour in motor just died, put it in neutral and it started right back up. Okay, so now I took it out last weekend cruising on a plain at about 3000 rpm and it almost felt as if I hit somthing, (I was in 50 feet of water)motor just died. I told the mechanic he said pull plugs and look for water while crankin it. Pulled plugs no sign of water in or on plugs, only thing is it would not even try to turn over. I checked the stsrter wires, all looked good and tight. Why would it just stop unless it broke the dist. gear again. Is there any other reason it would just stop.
