I have been having a steering problem with the boat pulling to the port side.I was doing some inspection in the engine compartment and noticed the starboard side motor mount had gotten loose and that side of the engine was sitting about an inch lower than the port side.I lifted the engine up level with the mount on the other side and tightened everything back down.My question is,Could that have been causing the steering problem because engine was out of line? I thought being the engine was cocked down on the right front it would have the drive out of alignment too?

Re: motor mount..help

Should have no effect on steering as your drive is mounted to the transom independantly of the engine. BUT a loose mount would have a huge effect on driveshaft alignment which could cause significant and expensive wear/damage to your gimbal bearing/housing/driveshaft, etc.

Those engine mounts are adjustable to align the engine for perfect drive-shaft alignment. If you moved one a full inch you are now WAY out of alignment. ASAP get your driveshaft/engine aligned by a boat mechanic if you don't have the alignment tool and knowhow to use it.

Your steering problem is likely unrelated.
