Does this mean my motor mounts are gone? If so how can I get to the back side to replace it? Motor is a 1995 175hp Evinrude. I am already having to replace the steering arm.

Re: Motor Mount?

While some of us can probably tell what motor your talking about ;I doubt thay could tell year or model.
Don't be afraid to go into details like things you may have tried.
A picture of the patient might help.Looks like a salt water motor or has spent many years in the water.?

Don't fly it. Keep it grounded until you get it repaired

you will probably find the rubber mounts bolts behind that nut in the picture are corroded to like this one in my picture , to get there off the power head

Two threads for the same issue aint going to change the answer unfortunately......http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=531678

You will be doing the steering arm anyway.....that in itself will mean fairly major disassembly work.....you may well be able to get to the mounts once you reach this point.....i would be replacing them anyway, just because.

Not looking for a different answer, its a different question. And yes i have the entire motor disassembled now with power head supported waiting on parts. If you don't have any real information to share you need not reply!

I gave you my opinion on the mounts and even told you what they were (with zero acknowledgment from you) in the other thread.....what was that about no real info again?

Thing is, no one will know for sure whether they have failed because of the condition of the steering arm, if the gap was there without that corrosion loss the answer would be straightforward. Only way to tell now if they are serviceable is a proper inspection.....they may look okay but considering their age and what theyve been supporting they may still fail. My advice to order and replace them anyway is based on preventative maintenance.....saving YOU (not me) the possibility of doing this all again in another six months or maybe even sooner.

If you decide to take a chance on them i wont be losing any sleep.....over and outski.

Re: Motor Mount?

The 60? engines use a wedge bolt entrapment to hold mounts in the bottom of powerhead as they are not on midsection. There a 2 types of mounts and they aint cheap if purchased new.

No they are not cheap but i found that they come as a kit now. Two motor mounts and two bolts. Found a set on ebay for $75 brand new.

After taking the power head off i found the rubber had separated from the thread insert. So they will be replaced.
