Motor quits when put into idle 50 Johnson

has not been started for about 2 months did get it started,lot of smoke runs 5 to 10 min then try to put it into gear willnot idle fuel bulb is pumped before start but soft after shut down

Argus, probably time for carb cleaning.If you are familiar with this procedure you can get carb kits from local dealer.Manual will be of good assistance in adjustment procedures and rebuild.Clean and inspect fuel tank ,check pickup tube in tank,insure tank is venting properly,check fuel hoses, fuel fittings,Anti syphon valve on tank fitting,check for leaks on fuel lines from fuel pump to carbs,and replace fuel filter.

It could be the gas ,I had maybe 1 to 2 gal.The motor is 1995 Johnson and never been worked on.

Possibly just bad gas, but you likely have gummed orifices in carbs,particularly bowl pickup tubes.
