Motor Running Rich

Hey,
How bad is it for a small 14 HP motor to run alittle rich?
Was told that the black looking oil leaking down my lower unit
was from my motor running rich.
To fix the rich running motor which way should I turn the rich lean screw?
All I have is screw driver slot to turn,thats covered by a rubber plug.

The oil you see running down your leg is likely carbon, an unburnt fuel/oil mix. See the link below to explain further.

The big issue with running rich is fouling spark plugs (although there may be other issues) so if you have a spare set in the boat, you can usually prevent a long drawn out rowing marathon.

I would bet it is just unburnt carbon as well, however.
