This is my FIRST post. I bought a 1989-1990 Yamaha 50 hp outboard on the back of a lund fishing boat. . . I re-wired a portion of the harness (hungry mice) and went for a test drive. The motor started fine with a few hiccups. and when i opened the throttle up, it just chugged along, wouldn't even climb up to speed. Cleaned out the fuel screen, checked the pulsating pump, lines OK. I've chased this all the way to the carbs. I think. I'm going to need a manual for this for certain. Any idea where to find one and any advice?

Hi Raymond, Get a manual !!!!! . You would do well to strip and clean carbs if it has being sitting unused for years ,if it is pre mix (oil added to fuel in tank) the petrol evoporates over time leaving a varnish type gunge behind ,when you add fresh petrol the gunge tends to bung up the jets in the carb or carbs and result in poor running or non starting problems, outboard shops make a fortune out of this at the start of every season. Best of luck .Jim B
