I have an old but never used aftermarket stand alone motorcycle tach sitting in my storage building just collecting dust. It will work with 2 or 4 cylinder motorcycles. Any of you guys know if this might work as a temporary tach for my 1985 Evinrude 115 until I get some new gauges?

I'm also curious about what answers you get-in the meantime,is your screen name related to BSA 441s?

A four cylinder two stroke fires four pulses/rev whereas a four cylinder four stroke fires just two pulses each rev. If the tach was for a two stroke bike it should work. Otherwise it will indicate twice the indicated rpm. But I'm wondering if this isn't a tach for a two or four "stroke" bike rather than 2 or 4 "cylinder".

Hmmm...sometimes when a bike has what is called a "single fire ignition" a tach does the samething. They make an adapter to cure this problem...I wonder if this will work?
I'll try it when I'm off on Tuesday and see.
And it's for 2 or 4 cylinders. I'm looking at it right now.

Nope.
My name is actually a throw back to my "handle" Shooter in an online flight sim I play called Aces High. At one time my buddy from Canada had a "squadron" called the 441st Silver Fox after the squadron his father flew with in WWII.
The "shooter" comes from my job..I'm an armed security shift supervisor at a local nuclear plant. At one time we had a designated marksman program (sniper is an ugly word to them) and I was a team member. We have since done away with the program though. :(
So there ya go..more information about me than you ever wanted. :D
