Greetings, I have a Motorguide W75, 75lb thrust, 24 volt system. I'm curious how long I should expect to get at approximately 70 - 80% power. My batteries are new interstate deep cycle batteries. On my last outing trolling downriggers for lake trout I got approximately 4 hours at that rate. Does that sound right?

Re: Motorguide Battery Life

Depends on the size and condition of the batteries. Plus a lot of other factors come into play like size and weight of boat, currents, winds.

Given that all we know is the batteries are made by Interstate..... I will assume you have two, 100Ah batteries in series.
Also assuming your 75# thrust motor draws 35-40 Amps at Full Power at 24 volts...

You would expect to get 2.5-3 hours at full throttle, and 3-4 hours at 75% power.

Your experience sounds within reason.

Yes on the batteries, not sure on the draw. But sounds like I'm doing ok. I'm used to getting a couple days with my old Minkota creeping around very slowly hunting Walleye on the bottom, just was not sure to expect in a different application, now I do. Thanks for taking the time to reply, appreciated.

If you are discharging your batteries 100%, they aren't going to last very long. General rule is that you should only discharge them 50%.
