Ok forgive me if this was covered in past posts but I did go through and look over some of the 497 that came up. But none of these actually fit my qusetion. So I have just aquired an older Brute 67 that came off a '99 Triton. It was missing the switch that controls the variable speed and I got one from a motorguide shop here. Now my question is I hooked it up 12v for 2 trips maybe 3 hrs use then I put another battery on it and it doesn't seem to make a difference in the thrust. My neighbors 70# WAY out preforms mine. Is it my motor or what? Thanks

Try running it with a serial connection using two 12v deep cycle batteries. That might be the difference from your buddy's if he's running it as a 24 volt setup. Did you already try this? Not sure what you mean when you say "tried with another battery"

Not sure if that actually provides more power or not but I've been told that it does.

Sorry I meant I added a 2nd battery to make it 24volt.

I had the same problem with the same motor. Bought a new speed control switch, and when I went to put it in, found two wires shorted under the pedal. Taped them up, problem fixed, but I put the new switch in anyway, since I already had it.
