would a MSD5200 help me in my boat as far overall performance and economy or would I screw something up with it?

The MSD 5200 is not recommended for marine applications. The 6M-2 would be the only MSD unit you would want to consider. It really would not be worth the effort and cost on a stock 4.3. If you have a points type distributor, replace the points with an electronic ignition setup such as Pertronix Ignitor.<br /><br />Dave
