muffler underwater at launch

i sometimes use a launch where the tailpipe ends up under the water. could this or will this give me problems later w/ the muffler or rear brakes or anything? i leave the car running so not to create suction into the muffler & i get the boat off & on pretty quickly.

I towed with an Olds Bravada for years with the same issue. It never caused a problem. If you're going in too far for your comfort you could always extend the hitch.

Thank you, exactly right! "a little too far for comfort" thought about the extension, how long do they come?

would not worry about the muffler the motor will push out your exhaust a wore out motor may bog and stall but a new one should have no problem, the muffler has a hole and i dont thik it would suck enough to drraw in throught the valves? The brakes will rust out quicker if in salt and water can get in your bearings or rearend which would need to be drained but the vent is high up in the body you would have water in your truck before the vent for the diff is under water. your fine, just extend your hitch i think you can go as long as 18''

I've seen some clowns back is so far that the bottom of the tailgate was in the water. I suspect they were having rear end trouble within the week. I'm not sure how they managed to load as the whinch was under water.
