From my seat it looks terminal to me. Looks like the core is completely delaminating.

Zim - You are not going to like this but I am with Indymike %100. The white stuff that is ripped off is the hull itself. I doubt that you would ever be able to repair it.

My suggestion is to part out (seperate & sell) the engine and trailer and take the hull to the dump. Shame - - Let this be a learning experience for you.

You cant put body filler or anything on that or anything of the sort? Surely theres a way to repair that, this has to be something that people encounter every now and again.

Re: My $650 project boat thread.

The overall structural integrity is failing...... the repair would never hold..... the layers have de-laminated.... and that could have been caused by a tiny amount of water getting between the layers and freezing. It is cancer.

IMO I would part it out. I would not feel comfortable even attempting a repair like that.

The good news .... yes there is some :) is that hulls are plentiful. You have a good V-6, outdrive, trailer and endless other components. Start looking for a donor hull with a bad engine.

Yep, looks like you have two options. 1. Part out and sell on eBay, etc. 2. Find an almost-free hull without an engine and swap yours into it.

Don't be too discouraged, you'll make money properly parting that out. The B-2-B seats together are worth about $300 I'd say. The trailer looks good, if so you can sell that. IF the engine is good it's worth a lot! As is the outdrive.

Blower, bilge pump, cleats, lights, guages, cushions, SS hinges, teak swim platform, SS hand rails, ladder, ski tow....just about anything you can get off that thing sells on eBay. You'll be surprised for how much $$. Fish finder, GPS, radio (if it has CD player),

ANything. I spend a lot of time looking on eBay for stuff for my boat and i can't believe what some of this stuff fetches. I had an old Loran navigation system on mine I had no intension of using - $120 on eBay. It adds up fast.

The engine and outdrive (if working well) are BIG ticket items. The trailer may be also, I don't know.

THEN, you'll have some cash for another shot at a boat. This time, you'll have more to spend.

All isn't lost. You've got some $$$ potential there.

I'm with Bob. Hulls are cheap. Esp ones that need a repower and/or a trailer. If you are up for a project take some time to check the integrity of the motor and out drive and then shop for a hull.

Your hull looks to me like it is a balsa core and has had major water intrusion from who nows what . The core is saturated and from what I've read it is next to impossible repair .

Here is a few days of reading if you like.

That, is a very sad pic in deed...very sad! I didn't know that not all damage couldn't be fixed. I am very surprised in fact by this. Well if the consenses is to toss it, then I guess the population knows best. Find another boat with the money you make off ebay. That is a GREAT idea, to part out and sell everything. Then buy a well made boat.

Re: My $650 project boat thread.

There is a message here for all who are first time buyers and go to look at a boat. I am not the one who is going to spell it out though.
