So I figured I would ask, what is your idea on seat height? I am 6 foot 3 and wife is 5 foot 3, I doubt she will ever drive the boat, I am thinking in the 16 to 18 inch range, but wonders what you guys are doing in your boats?

Thanks.

Just putting two pedestal swivel seats in the front and I will probably build a rear bench with storage in it.

You could make something out of a milk crate or some kind of box, with spacers and put a seat on top to find the height you feel comfy. Then you can cut the pedestal to match your optimum height. I think trial and error is better than what any of us could suggest because we all like to sit differently.

For the Bride seat, go with the same height and an angled foot rest box on the deck between the seat post and Port console so her feet have a solid resting surface. I really don't know cuz my Admiral has told me repeatedly my boat is smaller than the QEII and wouldn't be boarding - Ever. As I've been told - She would never even step foot on the QEII. LOL

Ayuh,.... Every hull is different in that regard,.....

As Don says, mock-up something, 'n decide,....
The legs for the seat base in my tinbarge are 'bout 3', as the fuel tanks are under yer feet,....
The Atlantis project has 'bout 2' posts, under Pompanette captians seats, but with a footrest at the helm, 'n on the post of the another,....
The Nova project has 'bout 1' posts to barrel shaped bucket padded seats,....

Ya probably oughta decide on which Seats 1st, buy 1, 'n mock it up, before buyin' whatever other hardware ya think ya gotta have, like slide rail adjustability,...

It is just a 16 foot Startcraft Super Sport, so a pretty simple layout, I already have a set of seats. They are new in a box came with another boat I purchased a couple of years ago. I think I will just buy a couple of adjustables that way my wife and I can set the seat height to our personal sitting styles and our heights.

Need to set them to the best height so you can see where you're going at all planing attitudes without craning your neck.

Well found a couple of cheap adjustable pedestals yesterday at a garage sale, the cheapy Swivel Eze black econmy mounts for $10 bucks each, will work for what we are doing. I was wondering if anyone had used the metal expanding nuts through a plywood floor in the boat to mount their pedestals? seems it would be easy, drill hole, drop in and tighten up, seems like it would be an easy fix without using lag bolts through the floor.
