The best way to remove a tick is using tweezers according to (for Humans, I don't imagine it applies to pets) :D

You can also save the tick in a jar for identification with date and location it was on the person for easier reference.

My 6 year old ended up with about 6 ticks on him (only 1 had actually sat down and began drinking tho). TOTALLY freaked me out as my other 2 kids had never had ticks. We had gone fishing and he like beating sticks on trees...Apparently he knocked them down on him as they were all over his shirt. The one that sat down was behind his ear.

Pay attention to those tweezers, they are very small, barelly cover anything other than the "head", they will not squeeze the tick. However, the tweezwers like what are used for hair removal and such, which is what is generaly found at a home have a lot larger area that will squeeze the tick. Remember, we are not talkin about a developed tick. We are talking about a tick in its nyph state, the size of a poppy seed, not even the size of sesame seeds. That is my point.
