It has been dark when I let my dog out in the morning. He has been taking off running to the back of my yard. I can hear him playing and jumping around, but never could see what he was doing.

Yesterday morning, it was light enough for me to see. At first I thought it was another dog, but it turns out to be a fox. I have spotted this fox frequently roaming the woods behind my house. The fox must be camera shy because every time I get the camera, the fox takes off.

Has anyone else witnessed this behavior in a fox being a friend of a dog?

Hey SS, get one of those motion sensing cameras and place it out there and get some shots of that.

SS forget the camara and get your gun.

If foxes in the US are anything like thier UK cousins that thing will be riddled with mainge, fleas and god knows what nasty bugs.

In my book there are only 2 types of fox, the ones that have been shot and the ones that need to be shot.

Re: My dogs new friend

Think I'll give a call to my buddy the deputy. At times they tell me I can shoot on my property and then others say I can't. Being on a list of trouble makers, I gotta make sure I am allowed to kill it.

I haven't heard them fighting or wrestling around like dogs do. For the time being, I'm putting a pair of visegrips on his dogrun cable so he can only go about 50' from the house. The fox only comes out on the far edge of the property. I think it is too scared to come close to the house.

Going to let my neighbor know about it. He has a highpower rifle that is just begging to kill something. He is home most of the day, so he has more of a chance to get it.

I just never heard of a dog and fox playing and sniffing butts.
